Each month we would like to recommend to you a book that we believe will encourage you in the great calling that God has given to you as parents. These books are not hot-off-the-press or books that have reached the bestseller lists. They are, however, books that will help you understand the world that God has placed you so that you might serve Him better.
This month’s recommended book is Reforming Marriage by Douglas Wilson. There are countless books on marriage, some certainly worth reading and others filled with humanistic babble. In this excellent book, Wilson offers a solidly Biblical foundation for marriage dealing with many important and sometimes difficult topics and questions. This is not a book that will easily end all your marriage problems or give you the perfect marriage. No book can do that. But this book will challenge husbands and wives to properly consider their duties before God. And one way that Wilson does this is through the effective use of metaphors and illustrations. This book has been the best-selling book in our church’s book room and is used as one of the books for marriage counseling at our church. Consider buying extra copies to give as wedding gifts.
